The Case
Introduction

Fraternities and sororities no longer exist at Metropolitan University in Metropolitan, Idaho. Students may elect to join Student Social Organizations, commonly referred to as “SSO’s.” Initiation into an SSO is prohibited during the first semester of a student’s freshman year. This policy permits students to adjust to the academic demands of the University. It also permits students to become acquainted with the SSOs on campus so that an informed decision may be made if a student elects to join a Student Social Organization.
On March 15,2000, Jamie Johnson, a freshman at Metropolitan University, died during “Entry Night” at the Met Club, a Student Social Organization on campus. Senior Pat Peterson, pledge master for the Met Club, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and hazing.

Witnesses

For the Prosecution: Officer Lee Steele- the investigating officer
Chris Kenya- Jamie’s best friend and fellow pledge
Jan Hicks- Architect who built the pledging station entitled “the summit” on which Jamie died.

For the Defence: Pat Petterson- the defendant
Dean Logan Farnsworth- the Dean of Student Affairs at the Metropolitian University.
Sandy Worthinton- the head spotter and gymnast along “the summit” on “entry night.”
